Monday-PurezzaI met up with Ben & Helen again at Purezza in Brighton for lunch. They kindly invited us down and spoiled us rotten letting us have whatever we wanted. (Thank you so much Purezza!) I’m already a lifelong fan of Purezza so it’s somewhere I will always take friends, vegan (or not) if they’re willing to have their socks blown off. They do everything and every course & beverage is amazing and creative – not boring here.

- Purezza was founded in 2015, becoming the first vegan pizzeria in the UK.
- We developed our pizza dough over many years, based on a traditional family recipe, as always, but with a twist.
- They do mozzarella, raw cashew cheeses, a ricotta style cheese and a creamy coconut cheese.

Focaccia Strips with cheese – Served with a selection of dips including hummus, pesto, and caramelized beet/onion.This starter was a fantastic choice. It’s like getting 2 starters because it’s having cheesy garlic bread but with an array of dips. Everything about this starter is great, from the presentation to the taste – highly recommend this! The bread is soft and cheesy, great for dipping in the adventurous, super creamy dips. I don’t like beetroot typically but I’m willing to give anything a try once. With the bread and the addition of the onion makes this a great dip, even for haters like me.
Indigo Island Sourdough pizza – Roasted purple sweet potato, freshly cut pineapple & pea pancetta.The Pizzas are always cooked to perfection and delicious. I hadn’t had this pizza of theirs before or tried purple sweet potato or pea pancetta so I was instantly drawn to it. If you want to play it safe, have something healthier or like me try something new this is a good option for you. I love the big hearty chunks of pineapple (because they DO belong on a pizza) and the array of colours. Very nice dish.
DessertRose, pomegranate and acai sorbet After 2 courses of carbs I was waning at this point so decided instead of getting my favourite Nutella dessert pizza I would go for something flowery and light. The sorbet is lovely, refreshing and light but the banana base, unfortunately, hogs the limelight in this very pretty dessert. I sadly couldn’t taste any of the titled ingredients but it was a lovely dessert nonetheless.
Turmeric LatteI’m a big turmeric fan and like to try all the different blends in Brighton. It looks lovely in a tall glass so you can take in its beautiful golden colour. It has a very peppery taste initially and is more bitter than sweet. Better enjoyed slowly when it’s cooled and you can taste its earthy flavours properly. Was a great winter warmer on that wet, chilly Monday. A perfect end to an amazing meal.
What Ben had
I loved what Ben had and we all tried each others. I have a huge sweet tooth and Ben’s drink & dessert were unbelievable! Easily the nicest things I’ve ever had in my life! If you go and don’t get either of these you’ll definitely be missing out! His whole meal is perfect for my taste but I just wanted to try something new. The pizza definitely brings the heat so if you can’t handle spice I would swerve this one.
What Helen had
You can’t go wrong with what Helen had.. she had to keep things more simple though, she can’t eat a lot of foods sadly. Garlic bread with cheese, you can’t go wrong with that, always delicious. I’m not big on ricotta personally but I think everyone would love this pizza Everyone likes vanilla ice cream and tea so these were both great endings to the meal.
