I am the biggest doughnut fan and used to treat myself to a box of Krispy Kremes when I would go to London (this was before they opened a store here in Brighton). They’re so moist, sugary sweet and had the best flavours.
So when I heard that Krispy Kreme UK was launching a vegan version of the og glazed I was beyond excited. Inspired by the iconic Original Glazed launched in 1937 – the new Original Glazed Vegan doughnut has the same great taste, light and fluffy doughnut texture and signature glaze as the original fan-favourite; but with a new vegan recipe.
“We are excited to extend our range of iconic irresistibly original doughnuts with the launch of our first ever Vegan offering, available exclusively in the UK.
We know January is a time that many are trying out new lifestyles and set ourselves the challenge to create a plant-based doughnut that is equally delicious as the original, with absolutely no compromise.”
Londoners will be familiar with the successful doughnut chains Doughnut Time, as well as Crosstown Doughnuts. Supermarkets have also jumped on the trend with many having accidentally vegan doughs in their bakeries. Remember the gingerbread doughnuts Morrisons sold at Christmas? (They do regular jam ones all year too dw). Wicked Kitchen also launched Jam filled doughnuts at Tesco stores last month for Veganuary.

But I’m fussy when it comes to doughnuts and they have to be the best. Supermarket jam filled ones just don’t do it for me. I treated myself a box for my 30th birthday and they were almost gone in 48 hours. They are best eaten on the day but tasted good still the next day. By day three they aren’t as moist but are still good. Would definitely recommend eating them by day 2 for that perfect taste.
The new vegan Krispy Kremes tasted exactly how I remember them and were a religious experience that should be tried by everyone. They’re also incredibly light meaning that you can easily eat 4 in a row (or maybe that’s just me ha!)
I hope they will add these to the displays in Tesco as it’ll be nice to save £ on shipping and luckily the Tesco near me has a Krispy Kreme. That could be dangerous as they’re oh so addictive but it would be great. Also with lockdown and ease of access, it seems like a good idea.
Sweet, light, moist and that sticky sweet iconic glaze – I cannot recommend them enough and can’t wait for my next box or 2. They are selling like hotcakes and aren’t always available though so get in there quick! Hopefully, they will keep up with demand soon and you won’t have to preorder them.
The Original Glazed Vegan is available in a pack of 12 doughnuts for pre-order today, to be delivered from the 17th February 2021. The Vegan Dozen is priced at £10.45 + delivery.

I LOVE the ‘boring’ glazed donuts from Krispy Kreme! Also can’t wait to get back to Crosstown when I’m back in central London!
