I am the biggest doughnut fan and used to treat myself to a box of Krispy Kremes when I would go to London (this was before they opened a store here in Brighton). They’re so moist, sugary sweet and had the best flavours.

So when I heard that Krispy Kreme UK was launching a vegan version of the og glazed I was beyond excited. Inspired by the iconic Original Glazed launched in 1937 – the new Original Glazed Vegan doughnut has the same great taste, light and fluffy doughnut texture and signature glaze as the original fan-favourite; but with a new vegan recipe.

“We are excited to extend our range of iconic irresistibly original doughnuts with the launch of our first ever Vegan offering, available exclusively in the UK.

We know January is a time that many are trying out new lifestyles and set ourselves the challenge to create a plant-based doughnut that is equally delicious as the original, with absolutely no compromise.”

Londoners will be familiar with the successful doughnut chains Doughnut Time, as well as Crosstown Doughnuts. Supermarkets have also jumped on the trend with many having accidentally vegan doughs in their bakeries. Remember the gingerbread doughnuts Morrisons sold at Christmas? (They do regular jam ones all year too dw). Wicked Kitchen also launched Jam filled doughnuts at Tesco stores last month for Veganuary.

But I’m fussy when it comes to doughnuts and they have to be the best. Supermarket jam filled ones just don’t do it for me. I treated myself a box for my 30th birthday and they were almost gone in 48 hours. They are best eaten on the day but tasted good still the next day. By day three they aren’t as moist but are still good. Would definitely recommend eating them by day 2 for that perfect taste.

The new vegan Krispy Kremes tasted exactly how I remember them and were a religious experience that should be tried by everyone. They’re also incredibly light meaning that you can easily eat 4 in a row (or maybe that’s just me ha!)

I hope they will add these to the displays in Tesco as it’ll be nice to save £ on shipping and luckily the Tesco near me has a Krispy Kreme. That could be dangerous as they’re oh so addictive but it would be great. Also with lockdown and ease of access, it seems like a good idea.

Sweet, light, moist and that sticky sweet iconic glaze – I cannot recommend them enough and can’t wait for my next box or 2. They are selling like hotcakes and aren’t always available though so get in there quick! Hopefully, they will keep up with demand soon and you won’t have to preorder them.

The Original Glazed Vegan is available in a pack of 12 doughnuts for pre-order today, to be delivered from the 17th February 2021. The Vegan Dozen is priced at £10.45 + delivery.

  1. I LOVE the ‘boring’ glazed donuts from Krispy Kreme! Also can’t wait to get back to Crosstown when I’m back in central London!

  2. These look lovely. It’s such a great thing that more and more options are becoming available for different tastes etc <3 The Swan Effect mum x

  3. Ooh I love Krispy Kreme’s original glazed, too! I didn’t know that they came up with a vegan option. I wonder if they will bring it to Singapore as well. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

  4. I love the classic glazed doughnut, the mix between the simple dough and the sweet icing is *chef’s kiss* It’s so cool that they have a vegan option now, would love to try them out.

  5. This is really nice. It’s good to know that although they made a vegan doughnut it still tastes the same as a regular one.

    1. Sadly not! But I think gf ones gf in the works. Finding both vegan and gluten-free things are way more scarce than they should be in 2021. I only just noticed today that the vegan cornettos are also labelled gluten-free, which is fab. Lets hope more big brands to follow suit! x

  6. Oooh it has been years since I’ve had Krispy Kreme. Love that they have vegan options now! Even better when it tastes just as great as you remembered. I might need to take a trip out to KK one of these days!! Thanks for sharing!

  7. They looked great, and the way you described them sounds addictive. I never heard of vegan donuts, but good to know they stay fresh even the next day.

Thanks for sharing your love of vegan donuts.

  8. I have heard a lot about Krispy Kreme and always drool over pictures. Wish we could have them here! And with this article I am missing Dunkin Donuts, haven’t visited since the pandemic started.

I am happy to hear that the vegan version of the Krispy Kremes taste so good, great article, and thanks for making me crave some donuts, maybe I will ask my hubby to get some supermarket donuts tomorrow, not as good as Dunkin, or I am sure Krispy, but still yum!

  9. That’s really good that Krispy Kreme are doing that. At least those who live the vegan lifestyle will be included in enjoying their treats. I’m inclined to try one!

  10. I was never a big Krispy Kreme fan when I was vegetarian but I am definitely keen to try the new vegan one. Sadly my nearest store is a good 30 miles away and I don’t want to order a dozen hahaha.

    1. Oh really?! They’re so good! Yeah at the moment they’re only available to order online as a 12 box but as they’ve been so popular hopefully they’ll be in stores including tesco soon. Fingers crossed.

  11. I love doughnuts so much! Original glazed has always been my favourite Krispy Kreme so I’m so glad they’ve made a vegan one as I try to eat pretty plant based. Now I’m tempted to have a doughnut for lunch…

  12. They sound delicious, I’m always looking for that tasty treat so these sound ideal. I also love the idea that they’re vegan I don’t think I could completely go vegan but I’ve cut out a lot of meat in my diet and really love vegeratian food.

  13. I’m happy to have found your blog. I’ve been veggie for 30+ years & have in the last couple of years cut down on dairy & made swaps. It’s great to have a round-up of food ideas.

  14. I love the recent push so many companies are making to expand their vegan range. It’s such an important environmental issue, with no reason why it shouldn’t be cheaper and more accessible. These sound delicious too!

    1. I do as well. One of the biggest factors for me being vegan in the first place. They’re really good. We really do everything that everyone else does. Thanks for stopping by 🙂

    1. You don’t need to be, they have kk stores all over and ship them all over the UK. I was just saying for me before they had a Krispy Kreme where I live (in Brighton) and did a delivery service I could only rely on getting them at the station in London. But now anyone in the UK can have them. And obviously the non-vegan ones in other countries where they have a krispy kreme. x

  15. I’m not a big doughnut fan. But Krispy Kreme glazed doughnuts are a classic.Sso now you’ve got me intrigued about the vegan version.

    1. They are I totally agree. I’m curious to see how they would compare to someone who isn’t vegan. Its been many years since I’ve had them but I think they taste exactly the same. x

  16. Wow! I love Krispy Kreme but I never had an idea that they will come out with vegan doughnuts! I’m so excited to try this! Thank you so much for sharing this review. 🍩

  17. Hey. I’m mot vegan but you’ve certainly got me intrigued to try one ! Krispy Kreme are by far the king (or queen) of donuts. They are absolute royalty!! And yes I too could chow down on a few in one go!

    1. Well, you don’t have to be vegan to enjoy them but I guess everyone who isn’t will just eat the “normal” ones. I totally agree they’re so good! They do a simple glazed doughnut so well.

  18. I wouldn’t know what to do without Krispy Kreme! I they’re my weakness, those delicious round delights. I get the chocolate Kreme filled, yummmm. Oh man, now I want a box. Hah.

    1. Ha I feel you! Not having them for years sucked. But its great that I can eat them now 🙂 Well hopefully this means they’ll branch out into more exciting flavours for us vegans. Even though the of glazed are still phenom. x

  19. These sound delicious! Can’t wait to go out and eat yummy food in the sunshine again. Let’s hope for this summer!

  20. I’ll tell you what whenever there is Krispy Kremes, I would always love to get my hands on some. There so gorgeous and sweet 😁 can’t wait to get some more in the future.
