If you’re feeling burnt out and like work is taking its toll you’re probably not balancing your work and life as well as you could be. I am guilty of doing this so that’s why I know the signs and also how to help.

Work Smart
Managing your time effectively and giving yourself an allocated amount of time to complete certain tasks while getting the mundane ones out of the way first means you can work smart, not long.
Also using apps for productivity with this in mind helps me so much. I love the Productive app by Apalon, it helps me get so much done!

Take A Break
Make sure you stop for lunch for an hour and don’t even look at any work until that hour is up. It’s good to take a break and just regroup. A rest is good and food is needed to make you more productive and alert. If you go outside and leave your workplace for a little while thats even better!

Office Space
If you work at home like I do have a designated work area or room where you do work so that you can get up and really leave work at work. I have a desk in a corner of my living room and I can escape to my bed or sofa to get away from work. That really helps you draw a life/work line.
Reduce Your Stress
Try and exercise and do whatever works for you to keep stress at bay. I use CBD, go for walks, have a cup of tea etc to help me daily. There’s a link between mental health and work-related stress so it’s important to take it seriously and look after yourself.

Make Plans
Make sure you try and make plans with family/friends so you’re getting some quality non work time. Even adding a reminder to make plans at least twice a month to see friends and family can be helpful (that’s what I do in my productive app). It’s good to know that it’s there and you have something that’s not work to look forward to.
Time For You
As important as it is to spend time with others it’s important that you carve out some time for yourself as well. Whether it’s giving yourself evenings/weekends off, whatever it might be, just make sure that you allot some dedicated YOU time as well.

Learning To Say No
One of the things I’m so bad at is saying no. I was saying yes to everything and getting severely overworked and burnt out. Lately, I’ve got much better at this and haven’t been saying yes to every opportunity that comes my way. You can’t take on everything, especially for little to no reward for you. It will just leave you feeling exhausted and deflated.
Only take on things you can manage and if you have some more free time than expected then look at other projects you can take on. It will leave you feeling less overwhelmed at your workload and also mean you can manage your time more effectively.
Summary
Happiness = better productivity & less stress which = better mental health.
I hope you enjoyed this post and that you find it helpful.

Thanks for reading!

Ooooh man I really need to learn to say no too. I worry about letting people down and so say yes to everything and end up letting myself down because I’m so busy! I use the forest app to be productive and I absolutely love it! Love planting little trees for the work I do. Very useful post

Oh I’m still learning too but I’ve been doing pretty well with it the past few weeks. I like to help people but I always end up so overworked ?Oh I haven’t heard of that one. Will have to check it out! Thanks for adding it to the comments, I hope someone else finds it useful. X
What is your productive app? It’s called “productive”? Let me know, it sounds like I need it as I work from home, too. Great post!
Yes ?It’s so good. I use it for everything from drink water to make plans with friends.
I totally needed to hear this. I am the type of person to overwork myself and not even realise, so I’m definitely going to be using this advice!
Also, I really agree about having an office space. I find it very useful to separate my living space and work space!
