The Vurger Co has finally come to Brighton & I couldn’t be happier! They officially open their doors in my sunny seaside city today and join my fav 100% vegan restaurants Purezza & what the pitta.
The location is prime for shopping and eating some incredible junk food on the beach. Nestled in the famous lanes by Donatellos the new location is an Instagram dream with marble tables and a neon sign.
It’s so hard to choose what to have but feel like I’ve eaten lots of american style meaty burgers and fries lately so decided to go with a buffalo chicken burger and tots with a strawberry daiquiri milkshake (minus the rum).
If you’re new to The Vurger Co and know absolutely nothing about them then they started as a small market stall in 2016. They then developed from market stall to events, pop-ups, festivals, and progressed to crowdfunding to their first restaurant in Shoreditch in March 2018.
- They invest in social causes, both locally and abroad.
- All packaging is made from plants, and are compostable.
- They aim to use as much locally sourced produce as possible.
- It is their promise to ensure that everything on their menu is always 100% plant based- ethically sourced and produced.
- They only use the very best vegetables, seeds, nuts and legumes in all of our patties. They do not contain wheat, gluten, or meat substitutes.
REVOLUTIONISING FAST FOOD THROUGH THE POWER OF PLANTS
Buffalo Vurger – Buffalo hot sauce covered ‘chicken’ patty teamed with house-made baconnaise topped with vegan cheese slice, gherkins, and crispy onions. [Allergens: M, S] . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . £10.95
*Extras: Add a second patty – £3.45 | Add an extra slice of Vegan cheese – £1.45
This was my first time trying the buffalo vurger and it was so good. The chicken was very realistic looking and tasting. The toppings were perfect and really added to the burger but didn’t detract. It wasn’t sauce heavy and messy like most places make the mistake of doing. I feel like this ruins the experience and you don’t taste all the flavours as well.
I loved the bacon mayo and pickles in this, I could taste everything and it all just complimented each other perfectly. I expected this to be really spicy and was glad it wasn’t as I like spice but can’t handle too much. My body was not hating me after eating this and my mouth didn’t feel like it was on fire. So I think don’t be too put off by the spice element.
Overall a super delicious burger that I can’t wait to devour again and again. Check out their full menu.
Tater tots . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . £3.95
I liked the slight crispiness of the tots with the creamy chilli mayo. Tots are so good and aren’t something you see in a lot of establishments in the UK so decided to go for them instead of my usual fries. Will for sure try the peri peri ones next time.
Strawberry Daiquiri Milkshake (minus the rum) [Allergens: N, S] . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . £5.95
*Extras: Whipped Cream – 50p | Shot of Rum – £3 | Shot of Whisky – £3
I’m usually a chocolate milkshake person rather than a fruity one but wow this milkshake was THE best strawberry milkshake I’ve had in my life. It was delicious! It didn’t taste artificial, was super instagrammable and I am HOOKED! I bet it would taste amazing with white rum but as I’m sober they kindly made me a non-alcoholic one.
Overall thoughts: Great food, great location, great decor, friendly and helpful staff, everything you’d expect and more from the vurger co.
