STD Check – Normalising The Conversation

Stds and sexual health isn’t something I’ve talked about much but it’s so important to me and in general. It baffles me the stigma that surrounds many issues of health like stds and mental health, it shouldn’t be that way. Any aspect of your health whether its physical or mental all needs to be looked after. It’s nothing to feel ashamed or embarrassed about.

This is something we need to talk about so that people will be safe and also get std checks. It’s an important part of life and something we should be doing without over analysis and judgement. Conversations are the start of that and something we need to build on to make it routine. It should be viewed like a dental check up, both necessary and a part of life.

If you’re having sex you should be getting tested regularly. If you have just one partner an annual check should be fine, unless you have any symptoms or cause for concern. Those with multiple partners maybe need to get checked out ideally every 3-6 months.

STD Check Tests

The tests vary depending on what it is that you’re being tested for. A lot of people worry about getting undressed and having a full on exam which can be off putting. At STD check they only need blood & urine samples so if you’re worried about this aspect of it it’s very straight forward.

I’m big on things being quick and as non invasive as possible, I think most people are. The waiting around for the results can be awful and really nerve wracking too. STD check has your results in just 1-2 days and they’re emailed to you so no need to visit the Drs office for them. The whole process only takes a few days and gives you total piece of mind.

Very quick and easy. I went to the lab the same day and was in and out in 5 minutes. I received my results in 24 hours.

No matter what age, gender or sexuality you are std testing is something everyone should be doing. Don’t let embarrassment put you off as giving a blood and urine sample is all it takes.

Health is really important to me as a whole and I’m thankful that I can get treatment for anything I need. It’s important to be grateful and to take advantage of these services that we are lucky enough to be able to have.

    1. Every aspect of health is important and we need to talk about things that this that some people feel embarrassed about. We need to normalise it.

    1. Aww thank you. Again with this it’s such an important issue about health and I fully believe in complete health. I didn’t want it coming across as forced or too dry so thank you 😊💗

  1. This is such an important post. I didn’t even know you should go if you just have one partner. Thank you for talking about it

    1. It is! Absolutely. They could have something and be totally unaware of it or may have cheated on you and caught something or vice versa. You never know..

  2. This is a wonderful option and I agree that we must be responsible for our physical, mental and sexual health! The stigma must stop and we must talk to our children about these issues from the time they can understand it. My kids have been hearing about these things since they were young kids and now they’re in their 20s, haha. Guess what though…no STDs😍❤️✌🏻

    1. I totally agree. And so many people avoid things because they think it’s embarrassing or they don’t want to take off clothes etc.. it’s completely different to what people think. That’s good. Yeah I’ve never had any issues myself touch wood 😊

    1. It is! I honestly thought they were horrific before I went to the clinic for the first time. They let me do the swaps myself which I liked but I imagine everywhere is probably different with how they do things. I hate being poked and prodded.. I feel like you have it so much worse as female. It’s like oh you have a cold let’s put you in the stirrups then.. 😪
