Netflix Originals – My Top Picks

So most people have Netflix and view it as a major source of entertainment. I dabble in other services like Amazon and Now TV but Netflix will always be my main bitch. They have all the amazing Netflix originals I love and a good selection that’s updated monthly.

I wanted to make this a complete Netflix list but I think I’ll do this in parts and add them all to a total post because this list got big FAST.

So let’s get down to it. This is my list of what they have in their Originals right now:

Grace and Frankie –  Jane Fonda is great and the character Frankie is so much fun, I feel like we would have good hangs in RL. Some crazy women talking about yam lube and vibrators & the cutest older gay couple including a Jewish foodie. What’s not to love!

Orange is the new black – Girls lezzing off and generally getting into loads of crazy shit in prison. The tip of the iceberg. Most people have watched this but if you havent.. WATCH IT NOW!

The Killing – I love this kind of stuff and I like the main characters which is always something I feel pulls me into something making me love it more. If you like things that make you think, thriller, horror, crime stuff then this is probably right up your street. I’ve watched the original Danish one too which is also great. You should for sure check out both.

13 reasons why – This can be a hard one to watch, particularly if you have been through any of the things in this like I have. It’s difficult to watch at times but so so powerful. Not only should this be viewed for entertainment purposes but to change people. Make them think about their actions towards other people, know that victim blaming is bs and shouldn’t be tolerated and to seek help if you need it.

Orphan Black –  Crazy clever clones get into crazy ass shit all the time. Amazing personalities portrayed by one amazing actress. You get invested and relate to the characters and in general get sucked into their clone world with lots of bad guys. Also has a totally badass character with the name as me – S is awesome!

The Defenders – If you’re a marvel fan like me & love the shows Daredevil, JJ, Luke Cage & Iron Fist separately then of course you’ll love seeing them all together. Lots of topless Iron Fist (ftw), JJ being a total badass who you totally want to be or be friends with. Bad guys and these guys kicking ass – in a nutshell.

Shadowhunters – Lots of eye candy (guys and girls), its like a bi persons smorgasboard. If you like stuff like vampire diaries and marvel stuff then you’ll like this for sure. Bad guys and some relationship stuff thrown in too for good measure. Alec & Magnus are cute as hell together – gays rule!

Hemlock Grove – The First original that I saw and I was hooked! Murder, magic, secrets, mystery, monsters.. all the best stuff combined and put into this highly addictive series. I love all the gypsy stuff and the character Peter Rumancek is way too dreamy.. OHMYGOSH. Oh and Bill Skarsgård is a main – nuff said really ha.

Santa Clarita Diet – Drew is amazing and everything she does is great  – I bloody love her. If you love dexter and iZombie then I think you’ll dig this show. Drew dies and it’s just all just dark turns and crazy zombie freak shakes from there.

The Keepers – I love stuff like this that makes you think about things that are a mystery and unsolved – a lot of that in the US. If you dig murder & mysteries like making a murderer then it’s a safe assumption you’ll like this.

The Circle –  Seriously cool idea and I love hanks and Watson so immediately it peaked my interest. A girl joins this ridiculously clever tech company that are really push the boundaries of privacy. A really interesting look at how life might be if everyone could see you every minute of the day.

Stranger Things – This show is great! I love the 80s vibes and the group dynamic that make you think of the goonies and that era. Just some crazy kids getting in all kinds of trouble with government types, tryna save the world.

I would definitely be friends with the kids in this and help them in their crazy misadventures with the upside down. They love games, dnd and lord of the rings – we would for sure hang out. Makes me want to play dungeons and dragons so bad after watching this.

11 and her badass powers and eggo love are the icing on the cake of a truly great & iconic show.

Amanda Knox – Again this is really interesting like the keepers and making a murderer, it makes you question a lot of things. By the end of these things you always have so many questions and you probably know if you think they’re guilty or not. I think Amanda seems guilty af.

Murder, mystery, thriller doc which could have easily been made into a mini series. Loved it!

The Sinner – New addition to their already vast catalogue ft Jessica Biel, who is great in this. Murder again.. shocker. I love that shit – its my jam. In a non creepy way. I’ve just always loved the crime/thriller, horror, sci-fi side of entertained and been fascinated with it.

Lots of murder, memory loss, Jessica seeming like she’s bat shit crazy – twists and turns that maybe you wouldn’t expect. Not a lot in this surprised me if im honest but im an annoying little shit and can always guess how things are gonna unfold. Maybe I watch too many crime docs and movies ha. But really great nonetheless! Deffo recommend!

Alias Grace – Another new one which I really loved. About a double homicide and you’re always asking yourself did the sweet angelic irish woman do it? Very well done and I didn’t guess every detail like I usually do which is always great in my books. Similar to the sinner in that not all is as it seems. A good watch all in all.

Okja – Are you even vegan if you haven’t watched this? 😉 Taking a good hard look at the industry of animal cruelty, making you fall in love with Okja and want your own. Heartwarming and thought-provoking. Many non vegans have loved it – One of my faves Matt Heafy from Trivium loved it and twitter was flooded when it was released. Must see!

Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life – I have loved the girls for years and have enjoyed seeing what other projects etc they have worked on. You get very invested in the Gilmore life and consider yourself a Gilmore with their love of coffee, food and movies like Casablanca. I love all 3 and my last name starts with a G so in my book im as good as in the Gilmore club.

It’s great to see them after the series stopped airing and what they’ve been up to and who Lorelei finally ends up with! *no spoilers here!  A must watch for any true fan.

Gaga: Five Foot Two – I love Gaga. I think after seeing her do interviews and things like this you’ll either love her more or fall in love with her. So raw and powerful, a great look into her life, her album and projects she worked on like AHS. I absolutely loved it.

Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories – I love everything japanese and I love the food scene in general so this adorable series that makes you feel like you’re in a the diner is great. If you’re missing home or you love Japan but have never been like me, this is a beautiful piece of nostalgia that is an easy, feel good watch. You should totally give it a chance because I think it’s so great and highly underrated. *If you don’t like subs then this isn’t for you – sorry.
