If you’re doing veganuary this year you might be feeling a bit overwhelmed, well I’m here to help. I’ve got some tips to get you started to make the transition a little smoother.
1. Start With Your Morning Coffee
Swap out that dairy milk with a friendlier alternative. There are so many barista blends now that mean you can still enjoy that latte. Soya and oat milk are great for tea, barista oat or soya are great in coffees, hazelnut is really nice in milkshakes and hot chocolate but most plant milks work for those.
2. Go Shopping
When you’ve got some free time and don’t have to rush have a browse at your local supermarket and check out the free from section. Then have a wander around the rest of the store and suss out where all the vegan stuff is. It’ll show you that you can have all the same foods as you did before and also where to find things next time.
3. Always Carry A Snack
You can usually find vegan food everywhere but you never know so it doesn’t hurt to have a nakd bar or two in your bag, just in case.

4. Buy B12
Purchase a vegan b12 supplement. If you don’t get a reliable source of vitamin B12 through fortified foods or supplements, the chances are high that you will eventually find your health suffering. Check out this great multivitamin by my favs Vegan Vitality.
5. Download Vegan Apps
From finding vegan food near you, vegan recipes, these apps are must-haves for your smartphone.
6. Find “Accidentally” Vegan Stuff
Just because something isn’t labelled vegan or sounds like it isn’t, that doesn’t mean it’s not. It never hurts to check the ingredients. Check out my list of accidentally vegan foods to get you started.

7. Simple Swaps
Try switching some of your every day things to vegan alternatives and take things a step at a time. Check out these 10 easy swaps.
8. Vegan Options
Even chain restaurants have vegan options. Have you seen the new stuff in Greggs, KFC, subway, pizza hut and papa johns (UK)?

9. Veganize Your Favourite Meal
There are plant-based versions of all your favourite foods. Like spaghetti bolognese? Sub the meat for lentils, mushrooms or vegan mince. All pasta (apart from the fresh stuff) is usually vegan anyway and is mostly comprised of durum wheat.
10. No One Is Perfect
Veganism isn’t about who is better or being perfect all the time; it’s about living in a way that avoids exploiting or harming animals.
We’ve all slipped up, don’t be too hard on yourself. The important thing is you’re trying, but you’re new to this. So if you accidentally eat something with honey in it, start again tomorrow. The vegan police won’t be knocking at your door – well not just yet anyway 😉
Not vegan yet but thinking about it? Check out the rest of my site for recipes, tips & guides. And watch a documentary like The Game Changers on Netflix.

Thanks for reading!

I’ve been a vegan for nearly three years and although I have strong feelings about not giving my money to companies like KFC that kill so many animals, I do love some of the other tips and tricks that you have shared. I’m sending you so much love. ?
