I recently made the big change from black to blonde and my hair has definitely suffered as a result. As much as you try and limit the damage it happens when bleaching hair.
My hair had to be bleached a lot to get it so light and to get rid of all the dark colour which left it dry and fragile.
You might be struggling to find products that are not only cruelty free but work. I’m here to give you some recommendations including treatments and styling products which will bring your hair back to life.
In no particular order these are the hair products I’m currently loving.
Lani Tropical Hair Treatment – £14.99/ 100ml

Overworked locks are strengthened, moisture and shine are replenished and each strand is enveloped in a protective veil that helps ward against styling damages. It leaves your hair incredibly shiny, smooth and full of bounce from the first use.
How to use: Can be used as an overnight treatment, a pre-shampoo treatment and a frizz taming serum.
My favourite way to use it is to leave it on my hair overnight and then wash it out. I like to use a bit on my ends when it’s dry too. I love the coconut scent which makes me think of tropical beaches.
Available from Lani, plastic freedom, amazon, so natural beauty, be kind beauty, the kind store, urban outfitters & other retailers.
Bleach London Silver Shampoo – £7.50/250ml

A game-changing hair cleanser, BLEACH London’s Silver Shampoo will give you your brightest blonde yet. Designed to be used in every other wash, this violet-toned, high pigment shampoo works to neutralise brassiness, eliminating unwanted yellow and orange tones. Ideal followed with BLEACH’s Silver Conditioner, it features strengthening wheat proteins and moisturising vitamin B5 to nourish strands as it brightens.
This is the best purple shampoo I’ve ever used. Its highly pigmented, gorgeous and works really quickly. I like to leave it on my hair for a while so it can really tone out the yellow. It might give you some lilac bits but its only temporary and will wash out.
Tip: If you have lots of yellow and need it to really work apply it all over dry hair with a brush and leave it on for about 15 minutes before rinsing off.
Available at: Bleach London, Cult Beauty, Boots, Superdrug, Look Fantastic & other retailers.
Olaplex No3 Hair Perfector – £26/100ml

A once-a-week at home treatment, this silky fluid reforms shattered hair bonds in between your salon or styling sessions, so you can carry on maintaining your favourite hair colour and style without the worry of damaging your locks beyond repair.
How to use: Use as a leave-in, overnight treatment or as a luxe 10-minute pre-wash treatment.
Available at: Olaplex, Cult Beauty, Look Fantastic, Amazon, Sally Beauty, Sephora & other retailers.
Maui Moisture Shea Butter Hair Mask – £8.99/340ml

Creamy shea butter is whipped into this hydrating mask blend along with rich coconut and macadamia oils help deeply quench, nourish, and soften strands to get your hair back to looking healthy.
How to use: If your hair is feeling extra dry, use as a leave-in treatment on wet hair to deeply condition strands.
I absolutely love the smell and texture of this mask. It’s lovely to use and always makes my hair smell and feel amazing. Because of the thickness of the formula, a little goes a long way.
Available at: Maui Moisture, Superdrug, Boots, Ulta, Tesco, Amazon, Asda, Walmart & other retailers.
Umberto Giannini Catch a Wave Texture Spray – £7/200ml

Always loved the salty hair look but hate the dryness and rough feel that comes with it? This vegan texture spray gives you great beachy texture and volume, and we’ve added nourishing Coconut Oil and UV filters to help protect against colour fade, too.
How to use: Spray evenly through damp or dry hair. If using on damp hair, blast hair dry with a diffuser and with head upside down for maximum volume and root lift. If air drying or using on dry hair to refresh texture, keep tousling and scrunching hair with your hands as it dries.
I’m a big fan of this brand and love the beach and flowerology ranges. This spray smells so good and gives my hair a nice texture. With the weather starting to get warmer this will definitely be a product I’m using more to quickly style my hair rather than using heat.
Available at: Umberto Giannini, Boots, Amazon, The Vegan Kind, Urban Outfitters & other retailers.
Mark Hill 12-in-1 Spray – £6.99/200ml

This product does it all. Flawless hair guaranteed with our 12-in-1 formula which protects from heat up to 240ºc, adds volume, and keeps hair where you want it all day long. The lightweight spray is the ultimate multi use product for prep, style and finish. Everything a hair addict could wish for squeezed into a 200ml bottle.
How to use: Spray the product through a section of hair before using rollers for volume or prime wet hair before towel drying to add lasting control. During styling, use the product with heated appliances to smooth, protect and shape or apply to the roots for extreme volume. To finish use the product to add that final touch of texture to shoppy hair or spray over your finished style to tame flyaways with amazing hold.
Available at: Mark Hill, Boots, Amazon & other retailers.
The Body Shop Grapeseed Hair Serum – £7/75ml

Smooth your hair and increase the shine with this glossy serum. Apply a small amount through your hair, for the best results.
How to use: Using fingertips, apply a small amount through damp or dry hair and style as usual.
The body shop have really upped their game in recent years and their hair care lines are fantastic. I love the banana and shea ranges the most, they really help give my hair moisture.
This is a great serum which I like to apply to my damp hair to tame it and give it shine.
Available at: The Body Shop
Vegavero Collagen Plus – £19.90/120 capsules

Almost all collagen products on the market come from pig or cow skin, bird skin (hydrolysed) or fish bones and scales (marine hydrolysed). Ours is vegan and without artificial additives. It contains only plant based ingredients in combination with proline and lysine that enhance the synthesis of collagen in the body. It’s made from Pomegranate, Goji, Ginseng, Ginkgo, Tomato, Rosehip, Acerola, L-Lysine and L-Proline.
Recommended daily dosage: 3 capsules.
These have really helped by skin and hair while I’ve been taking them. I’m a big fan of this company in general and they make great quality health products.
Once you’re over 25 you really need a helping hand with your collagen production so these are a great, easy and vegan way to help with that.
