If you’re a new vegan it probably feels really overwhelming and you might be stuck for easy and cheap meal ideas. Well, I’m here to help.

Veganism doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated, this is a common misconception these days. You can spend a lot of money eating out all the time or buying the latest meat replacements but when you look at whole foods like vegetables and legumes there’s so much you can make.

Here are some ideas to get you started, many using whole foods (no need for meat substitutes). Not that I have anything against them, it’s just not always cost-friendly or accessible.

Breakfast

Lunch

  • Sandwiches: cheese & pickle, hummus & veggies, ham & cheese, peanut butter & banana or jam, blt, cheese & onion, avocado, cucumber, tomato & basil

  • Sushi
  • Omelette

  • Soup & Bread
  • Jacket Potato: beans, cheese, soured cream & chives, tuna (jackfruit or chickpeas), chilli

Dinner

  • Stew/Hotpot/Casserole
  • Pizza

  • Mac & Cheese (cashew, butternut or vegan cheese sauce)
  • Spaghetti Bolognese (vegan mince, lentils or mushrooms)
  • Jacket Potato
  • Salad
  • Sausage & Mash
