Chocolate Review | Charlene’s Chocolate Factory

I’ve been a fan of Charlene’s Chocolate Factory (a local company) for a few years now and see them often at Shoreham farmers market. I was thrilled when they asked me if I would review some of their bars.

I’ve loved seeing them evolve and introduce new products with imaginative flavour combinations and colours (they really do have something for everyone).

They kindly supplied me with 5 mini bars to try and review. Each are chunky like a proper chocolate bar and 60g. They’re perfect taster bars and also make lovely little gifts. (Great as a stocking filler!)

Rosemary & Dark, Semi-Sweet Basil, Salt + Pepper Caramel Crunch,
Raspberry & Dark and Sticky Toffee Pudding Dark.

Charlene’s Chocolate Factory has an impressive catalogue of 35 flavours, many of which are GF (gluten-free) and 17 that are vegan. They use milk, dark, white, soya and have some colourful and patterned bars which I’m a huge fan of.

They cater to everyone:

  • Vegans
  • coeliac
  • Kids
  • Adults
  • Those that like spicy food and those that don’t
  • People who drink and people who don’t

I’m a fan of herb and floral flavours when it comes to food so wanted to try some of their more unusual flavours so chose the basil & rosemary bars. I really enjoyed their subtle flavours and think they compliment the chocolate well. If you like lavender chocolate I think you’ll like these, the rosemary bar especially.

Also, can we talk about the beautiful patterns of the bars, such a nice touch. I’m a sucker for pretty things and this really adds something extra which makes me love these bars even more. Both are Dairy & Gluten Free and available in small (60g) and large bars (90g).

Salt & Pepper Caramel Crunch

If you like a bit of salt with your chocolate like me then you’ll definitely like this bar. It’s got a subtle sweet and sour thing going on which is really lovely.

It’s a relatively new flavour available in milk (GF) & dark (DF & GF) and in small ((60g) and large bars (90g).

Raspberry Dark – made with 100% real raspberries

This bar is lovely and probably my favourite of the selection. Some similar bars I’ve had they’re still very bitter and you don’t get the sweetness of the raspberries through at all. This definitely gives my fav raspberry divine bar a run for its money!

Available in dark (DF & GF) and in small ((60g) and large bars (90g).

Sticky Toffee Pudding

This is a lovely bar that’s not your standard bar of chocolate. I love the sultanas and sugar which makes it sweet, but not too much. The perfect combination.

Available in milk (DF & GF) & dark (DF & GF) and in small (60g) and large bars (90g).

Me too!! I get so sick of plain dark chocolate all the time. That’s what is widely available as vegan for us. It gets so boring doesn’t it. They do some amazing patterns and colours. They even have a bar that has leopard print pattern on it. They’re so creative – I love it.
Aww thanks. There are so many wonderful small businesses around and I enjoy working with them a lot. I think it’s important to try and help promote them. They need it more than bigger brands. I’m very lucky that I can buy pretty much anything I want locally. I try to at least once a month.

Ha me too! I’ve been a fan for a while. I’m pretty lucky that we have some fab chocolate companies here in Sussex. I’ll have to do a giveaway with some as lots of people have been interested in it. 💗

They’re so good and really lovely people, It’s nice to get to know small business owners. They’re great on social media and let you know events where they’ll be at. They go from goring to Brighton I believe. They can be delivered too. Xx

They’re really lovely. We’re so lucky to have lots of great vegan companies big and small down here and those with lots of options. Me too!! I’ve been given so much this year. I hope I get as much in the winter when I eat so much more of it ha. 😍😋🍫

The rosemary and dark chocolate bar is a visual masterpiece and the sticky toffee bar had me at “hello”. I am going to check their website to see if they ship to the U.S.😍❤️✌🏻

I know right! Couldn’t agree more. I don’t believe they do as they’re a very small company here. I’ll have to send you some 😊x
