Crispy Oumph! Hoisin Tacos

 

I went to the Oumph! launch party recently to celebrate them coming to the UK and being stocked in Tesco. I love all the food that was served that night and wanted to share the recipe for my favourite hoisin tacos so you can create your own at home.

They’re so tasty and you could be forgiven for thinking they were real meat tacos. The texture and flavour of Oumph is nothing like I’ve ever tasted and is a huge step for the plant-based world.

 

 

From Oumph’s very own top chef Fredrik Kämpenberg (who’s considered to be one of Sweden’s top chefs for plant-based foods). These amazing plummy tacos are like crispy duck pancakes but 100x better.

Ingredients
  • 80g Oumph! The Chunk
  • 1tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 1-2tbsp Hoisin sauce
  • 1squeeze Lime juice
  • 1handful Mixed salad leaves
  • 1 spring onion
  • 2handfuls diced cucumber
  • 4 mini tortilla wraps
Instructions
  1. Defrost The Chunk at room temperature for about 30 mins.
  2. Using your hands or a fork, tear The Chunk into long, thin pieces.
  3. Fry Oumph! in vegetable oil, (med/Gas mark 4), until crispy.
  4. Place The Chunk pieces in a bowl, add Hoisin sauce and a squeeze of lime juice.
  5. Dice the spring onion and add, along with salad leaves and diced cucumber to the bowl then mix.
  6. Heat the tortilla wraps for 20 seconds in the microwave.
  7. Serve the mixture on the warm tortillas and enjoy!

    1. Yes I love that! I’m gonna be sharing the tandoori one from the launch too. That was probably my second favourite. 😋😋Me too! I tried them a few years ago so I’m happy that they’re more mainstream now and everyone else can try them. Love it! X

    1. I know! It’s so good! It’s a European thing sadly.. but I have no doubt specially with the wicked kitchen connection they’re building on that it will come to the US. They’re looking at creating something together in the future so that could bridge the gap. So excited to hear more about that!

    1. You really do! They’re amazing and can be used and cooked in so many different ways. I’ve tried it fried, baked, deep fried & boiled so far. All great in their own way.

    1. They were amazingggg. The tandoori ones were unreal as well. All the food from the launch was so good. I wanted to put loads in my bag and take it home 🤣🤣 You’re welcome. Well this one is super easy and almost no cooking/prep so I hope you’ll give it a whirl.
